Alex Burns

Alex Burns is one of Australia's most respected blues & roots performers. Born in Glasgow in 1951, Alex came to Australia in 1973. Over the years Alex has become a very popular performer in the Australian blues scene. He has performed at the major music festivals in the country, and has also played overseas at the Edinburgh festival. He has performed at the Brisbane Steel Guitar Festival 2003 and 2004 and numerous pubs and clubs in between.Alex has recorded three albums with partner Nick Charles. His solo album, 'Twighlight Blues' achieved critical acclaim. Known for playing the broad repertoire of American string styles, going to back to his roots, by request, Alex is performing and touring solo, promoting his solo blues album, 'The Blues is Here to Stay'.

During his career, he has performed with, John Mayall, Taj Mahal, Sonny Terry and Brownee McGee. When I was photographing Dutch, he told me the story about when BB King heard him play, BB couldn't believe Dutch wasn't black.
